Troopers were called to a residence on LaChance Road around 11:40 this morning after someone reported being shot. When they arrived, they found three people dead and another person critically injured. Investigators then discovered another deceased person near a wooded area by Whitlock Lake and another inside a separate residence.
Police say the suspect, Chad Hickman, 39, was found dead, and investigators are now working to piece together what happened and why.
“Not only is this difficult for our investigators and our troopers, but it’s very hard for this community. You know, this type of loss is tragic,” MSP Public Information Officer Lt. Ashley Miller said. “And we’re going to conduct a thorough investigation and we want to make sure to keep our community members up to date on our current situation and what we’re discovering throughout this process.”
Miller says there is no threat to the public, and despite resources being tied up at the scenes, police are still patrolling the community and responding to calls for service.
