An active shooter at a Citibank in Tampa, Florida: Two Dead
A shooting at a Citibank office complex near Tampa, Florida, has left two people dead, including the suspected gunman, according to authorities.
The incident unfolded Wednesday, November 4, at the Citibank Center in Brandon, just outside Tampa. The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office responded to reports of an active threat, prompting a massive law enforcement response.
According to the Associated Press, the gunman drove through a security fence before opening fire at the business campus. A woman was killed, and a security guard fatally shot the suspect during an exchange of gunfire.
Four additional people were hospitalized with injuries that were reported as non-life-threatening.
Hundreds of deputies responded as employees evacuated buildings or sheltered inside locked rooms. Authorities also worked to clear the surrounding office complex and help employees reunite with their families.
Hillsborough County Sheriff Chad Chronister described the incident as a suspected targeted attack rather than a random act of violence.
Investigators have not yet released the identities of the victims or established a motive.
The investigation remains ongoing as authorities work to determine exactly what led to the deadly shooting.
