A 4-Month-Old Was Found Dead. Three Other Children Were Taken.
On June 12, 2026, emergency responders were sent to a residence in the 1700 block of West Esthner Avenue in Wichita, Kansas, for a report of an infant who was not breathing. Upon arrival, EMS and firefighters found a 4-month-old boy deceased at the scene.
Police were called to investigate the circumstances surrounding the baby’s death.
Authorities said investigators with the Wichita Police Department’s Homicide Unit and Exploited and Missing Children’s Unit responded to the scene.
Once officers arrived, they found three other children inside the residence.
Police said the children were all 4 years old or younger.
The three children were placed into protective police custody.
Authorities later identified the baby’s parents as 30-year-old Krystian Michael Manning and 27-year-old Destiny Chrystal Manning.
Both parents were booked into the Sedgwick County Jail on four counts of aggravated endangerment of a child and child abuse.
Police said the investigation into the baby’s cause of death remains ongoing.
Neighbors said they were shocked and saddened after learning a baby had died.
Authorities said anyone who sees a child in danger or notices anything unusual involving a child’s safety should call 911 immediately.
