Seven cars of a Union Pacific Railway train derailed in Mason City, Iowa Wednesday night.

According to Deputy Chief Aaron Beemer of the Mason City Fire Department, a joint call came in to police and fire about a derailment at 19th Street SW and South Pierce Ave. at 10:12 p.m.

The derailment was blocking South Pierce Avenue.

Beemer says the cars were carrying dry goods and this is not a hazmat response. No injuries were reported.
