At least 17 people have been shot, 4 killed, across Chicago
At least 17 people have been shot, four fatally, in gun violence across Chicago so far this weekend, police said.
Much of the violence unfolded between 9 p.m. Saturday and 7:30 a.m. Sunday. Twelve people were shot, including all four recorded homicides, within that time frame.
Two men were found shot, one fatally, on the city’s South Side on Sunday morning, police said.
Police said the men, 30 and 27, were found on the ground outside in the Chicago Lawn neighborhood’s 6100-block of South Campbell Avenue around 5:45 a.m.
The 30-year-old, shot in the head, was pronounced dead on the scene. His name was not immediately released.
A 48-year-old woman was shot in the head and pronounced dead at the scene, according to police, while a 43-year-old woman was grazed on the right leg and taken to an area hospital in good condition and a 48-year-old man was shot in the right ankle and taken to an area hospital in good condition.
One woman was killed and two other people were wounded in a shooting late Saturday night in Austin on the city’s West Side, according to Chicago police.
Police say the three victims were standing outside in the 5400 block of West Fulton Street around 11 p.m. when they heard gunshots and felt pain.
