A terrifying new drug called ” Bluetoothing ” is spreading: people can’t believe what it actually really means
People are injecting someone else’s blood into their bodies in an attempt to get high.
The practice, known as “bluetoothing,” involves one person injecting a drug, drawing their own blood into a syringe, then another person injecting that blood hoping some of the drug is still circulating in it.
Now it’s getting renewed attention amid Fiji’s HIV crisis, where injection drug use has been identified as a major transmission route.
The practice carries an obvious risk of transmitting HIV, hepatitis and potentially life threatening infections.
And the sickest part?
The amount of drug transferred through the blood may be tiny… meaning people could be risking a lifelong infection for a high they barely even get.
How desperate does a drug epidemic have to get before people injecting other people’s blood becomes a thing?
