RawNews1st – Police responded to a home in the 1600 block of Gilbert Street in Saginaw, Michigan after receiving reports that a woman had broken a window around 2:00 p.m.

Responding officers made contact with a 58-year-old woman who told them she had just escaped from a nearby home where she had allegedly been held captive in a basement for approximately two years.

The victim reported that she had been confined with minimal food and water and had no access to a bathroom or shower during that time.

The victim was identified as a 58-year-old woman whose name has not been publicly released.

Investigators later identified the suspect as 48-year-old Tasha Beamon, who authorities say is the victim’s sister-in-law and had been acting as her caretaker.

According to investigators, detectives verified the victim’s claims after further investigation and confirmed she had been living in those conditions for an extended period.

Beamon was arrested and charged with unlawful imprisonment and first-degree vulnerable adult abuse.

She remains in custody at the Saginaw County Jail and is scheduled for further court proceedings on April 13 and April 20.

Authorities have not yet disclosed whether the victim is currently receiving medical care.
