Tucker Carlson and team detained and interrogated by Israeli security after Huckabee interview

US conservative commentator Tucker Carlson said Israeli security officials detained him and members of his team at Ben Gurion Airport shortly after he traveled to interview Washington’s ambassador to Israel, Mike Huckabee. Carlson told the Daily Mail that officials confiscated their passports and questioned his executive producer about the contents of the interview.

The interview followed a public dispute between the two after Carlson criticized Israel’s treatment of Christians and accused Huckabee of failing to address attacks by settlers in the occupied West Bank and Jerusalem. Israeli authorities had initially considered barring Carlson’s entry, according to local media, before allowing him in to avoid a diplomatic incident. The US embassy later said he received standard screening procedures applied to all visitors.

The episode comes amid growing divisions within US conservative circles over Israel’s influence on US foreign policy and Washington’s backing of the genocide in Gaza. Carlson, whose platform reaches millions, has become one of the most prominent right-wing voices criticizing US support for Israel and warning against deeper regional escalation.
