She Left The Baby With The Father To Shower. Hours Later, The Baby Was Dead.

On May 9, 2026, a 5-month-old baby was rushed to Banner University Medical Center in Tucson, Arizona after becoming unresponsive inside a home.

According to court documents, the baby’s mother had bathed the infant in the kitchen sink before taking her to a bedroom where 33-year-old Ramon Kin was watching television. The mother told Kin to watch the baby while she showered.

While the mother was in the shower, Kin came in and told her the baby was asleep.

When the mother got out of the shower, she heard Kin calling the baby’s name and found him holding the infant, who was unresponsive and limp.

The mother placed the baby on the bed and began CPR while Kin called 911.

Tucson Fire Department responded and transported the baby to Banner University Medical Center. During transport, firefighters noticed the right side of the baby’s head beginning to swell.

Imaging at the hospital revealed multiple skull fractures and brain swelling.

The baby was rushed into emergency surgery. Doctors found a 3- to 4-centimeter linear bruise over the skull fracture and brain bleed that had been hidden by the baby’s hair.

The baby stopped breathing during and after surgery and later died.

A doctor determined the brain bleed was a hyperacute subdural bleed. According to court documents, the multiple skull fractures and brain bleed were consistent with severe inflicted head trauma.

Doctors also found two healing posterior rib fractures on the baby’s right side.

Medical officials said the type of skull fractures found on the baby were not consistent with a drop or fall and would have required a significant amount of force.

An autopsy was performed on May 11, 2026, at the Pima County Medical Examiner’s Office. The autopsy confirmed the healing rib fractures and also found previously unknown healing brain bleeds.

According to court documents, the baby had also been taken to the hospital on April 9, 2026.

Investigators said Kin was the sole caretaker of the baby on both April 9 and May 9 when the baby was taken to the hospital.

Kin has been charged with child abuse.

He is being held in the Pima County Jail on a $500,000 bond.

His next hearing is scheduled for June 8, 2026.
