RawNews1st – Nebraska Teacher Accused of Generating A.I. Child Sexual Abuse Images and Masturbating to Them at Work

A Nebraska middle school teacher is accused of generating hundreds of AI-created child sexual abuse images — and masturbating to them while at work.

Matthew Lund, 47, a teacher at Andersen Middle School in Omaha, was arrested Wednesday and faces charges of possession and distribution of child sexual abuse material.

Authorities said investigators served a search warrant at Lund’s home around 6:15 a.m. before taking him into custody.

The Nebraska State Patrol said the investigation remains ongoing and that there is no indication at this time that any students are victims in the case.

During a court appearance Thursday, April 23, a judge set Lund’s bond at $1 million and ordered that he have no contact with anyone under 19 years old. He was also ordered to wear a GPS monitor.

Prosecutors said the case began in February after authorities received a cyber tip that files had been uploaded to a Google account linked to Lund. Investigators traced the account to an IP address associated with Millard Public Schools.

A search of the account allegedly uncovered more than 400 files, including at least 104 images consistent with child sexual abuse material depicting children ranging from infants to about 12 years old.

Prosecutors said Lund admitted to generating the material and masturbating to it while at work.

A parent whose child attended a school club run by Lund told KETV that some students had previously felt uneasy around him.

“He was hiding in plain sight,” the parent said, adding that her child was shocked by the allegations.

Deputy Douglas County Attorney Brenda Beadle said the case may be among the first her office has charged under a newer law addressing AI-generated child sexual abuse material.

“Even though the images were computer generated, they are illegal,” Beadle said.
