Man sentenced to 9 years in state prison for his role in attempted murder of a homeless person

Demetrius Eugene Brown was sentenced to nine years in state prison for his role in attempted murder in the targeted shooting of a homeless man in Chico in October 2022, Butte County District Attorney Mike Ramsey said. 

Brown pleaded no contest to attempted murder in March 2024. 

Brown changed his plea to no contest in the shooting; as part of the plea, he had agreed to receive an upper-term sentence of nine years in state prison. And today he was sentenced to nine years. 

The shooting happened in October 2022. The two others involved previously pleaded guilty for their roles in the shooting. 

Keyna Osorio was sentenced to 12 years in state prison. While her 19-year-old daughter, Kaynaro Corona, was put on probation.
