JPSO identified the suspect Trenton Broussard. He is charged with aggravated assault with a firearm and aggravated assault upon an officer.
Lopinto said they were attempting to arrest two adults when a third person approached them and pointed a gun at deputies.
One detective fired his service weapon multiple times, and the suspect was struck several times, according to Lopinto.
