He Beat The Mother Of His Children With A Hammer: 30-year-old Latarius Mylik Dale was arrested
He Beat The Mother Of His Children With A Hammer. Now He Has Life In Prison.
Deputies responded to a home in Dothan, Alabama, after reports of a woman found severely injured outside a residence. Upon arrival, investigators found the victim suffering from extensive injuries after being brutally attacked with a hammer. She was later airlifted to UAB Hospital in Birmingham for emergency treatment.
The victim was identified as Brittany Moulton.
According to investigators, 30-year-old Latarius Mylik Dale forced his way into Moulton’s home through the back door before repeatedly striking her in the face with a hammer. Authorities said the two previously had a romantic relationship and shared children together, but were separated at the time of the attack.
Investigators believe the assault happened hours before neighbors discovered Moulton lying injured in the front yard the following morning. Despite her injuries, authorities said Moulton managed to reach a neighbor’s home seeking help after the attack.
Moulton later sought a protection order against Dale through a third party because her injuries left her unable to do so herself.
Authorities said the attack left Moulton hospitalized for 14 days and caused permanent injuries. She was sewn “from ear to ear,” suffered a torn retina in her right eye, lost vision in that eye, and now has a metal plate in her head.
Investigators also revealed Dale had previously been charged with third-degree domestic violence in 2023, though those charges were later dropped after the victim reportedly refused to cooperate.
Dale was initially charged with first-degree domestic violence and burglary.
On May 21, 2026, a Houston County jury found him guilty of first-degree domestic violence. Although he had no prior felony convictions, a judge sentenced him to life in prison. Authorities said he will eventually be eligible for parole.
Following the sentencing, Moulton said she hopes her story encourages other victims of domestic violence to seek help and keep fighting for their lives.
