Oklahoma Senate candidate Barry Christian, 54, was found dead after being reported missing, Christian’s family confirmed.
Authorities said Christian was reported missing after not showing up at a meeting on Wednesday.
Christian was last seen on Tuesday in Sayre, according to authorities.
The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigations said Christian’s car was found on the side of the road South of Erick, Oklahoma, on Thursday afternoon.
The family said Christian’s body was found on Thursday.
OSBI confirmed that a body was found in the truck they found at the Sandy Sanders Wildlife Management Area. The truck was found crashed into a ravine, and because of where the truck was located, the body has not been able to be removed from the area.
Because the body was still inside the vehicle, OSBI said they were unable to identify the person inside. However, a large campaign sign for Christian was found in the area by the truck.
Christian was a 54-year-old Republican candidate for Senate District 38 from Sayre.
According to social media, Christian made an appearance at the Mangum Rattlesnake Derby to campaign for the State Senate seat on Saturday, just days before he went missing.
