A homicide investigation is currently underway after a man was shot and killed in the Washington Park neighborhood.

The incident occurred at 4:48 p.m. on Friday in the 5600 block of S. Michigan Avenue, according to Chicago police.

The 46-year-old man was found unresponsive in a hallway with a gunshot wound to the chest, according to CPD.

He was transported by ambulance to the University of Chicago Hospital in critical condition, where he died of his injuries.

His identity has not yet been revealed, and no arrests have occurred in connection with the shooting.

The investigation is ongoing.
