Vienna, Georgia Homecoming Shooting Leaves 2 Dead and Up to 35 Injured

A homecoming celebration in Vienna, Georgia, turned deadly early Sunday morning after gunfire erupted during a large gathering, leaving two people dead and as many as 35 others injured, according to authorities.

The shooting happened around 1:15 a.m. near Pine Street, where more than 1,000 people had reportedly gathered for the event. Deputies were already monitoring the large crowd when shots were fired.

Dooly County Coroner Brett Walls confirmed that two men, ages 20 and 23, were killed. Their identities have not yet been publicly released as authorities continue investigating the shooting.

Dooly County Sheriff Craig Peavy said gunfire was directed toward a group of approximately 50 people, with shots reported at multiple locations roughly one block apart. Authorities said about 25 injured people were transported to hospitals, while the total number of injured could reach 35.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is assisting local authorities with the case.

As of the latest reports, authorities have not publicly identified a suspect or announced an arrest. Investigators are also working to determine what led to the shooting.

The investigation remains active, and officials are expected to release additional information as it becomes available.
