Two women were arrested in Storey County and face charges of child abuse/neglect and false imprisonment.

The Storey County Sheriff’s Office received a request for a welfare check of a child on May 6 near Tunnel Road in Gold Hill, Nevada.

The deputy who responded allegedly found a child locked in a small room.

The child did not have access to food, water or a restroom, and also needed medical attention.

Deputies say the child and their sibling were removed from the home and are now with the Department of Child and Family Services.

34-year-old Tammy Hinds and 68-year-old Nancy Hinds were both taken into custody.

The investigation is still ongoing. If you have any information that could help, you are urged to contact Detective Joe Welch at the Storey County Sheriff’s Office by calling (775) 847-0959.
