Two 17-year-olds charged after Loop carjacking ends in multi-vehicle crash with police squad car

Male and female juvenile offenders allegedly took a vehicle by force from a 56-year-old man before crashing into multiple vehicles near State and Randolph streets and fleeing on foot.

Narrative:

Two 17-year-old juvenile offenders allegedly carjacked a 56-year-old man around 4 p.m. October 7, 2026, in the 0–100 block of W. Monroe Street in the Loop and 1st District.

Police said the teenagers took the victim’s vehicle by force and fled.

The stolen vehicle crashed into several other vehicles near State and Randolph streets a short time later. One of the vehicles struck during the crash was a marked Chicago Police Department squad car.

Both teenagers allegedly abandoned the vehicle and attempted to escape on foot.

Officers arrested the male and female juveniles around 4:20 p.m. in the 0–100 block of W. Randolph Street, approximately 15 minutes after the carjacking.

A firearm was recovered from the 17-year-old male, according to police.

No injuries were reported during the carjacking or multi-vehicle crash.

Both juveniles were placed into custody and subsequently charged accordingly. No additional information is available at this time.
