A 19-year-old Virginia man has been arrested in connection with a shooting at Virginia State University that left five people wounded early Saturday morning.
Authorities identified the suspect as Camron Harris, of Henrico, Virginia. Police say Harris was found hiding inside a dormitory closet on the VSU campus more than 14 hours after the shooting.
He is not a student at the university.
The shooting happened around 1:30 a.m. Saturday near the Quad Annexes, an area near the university’s residence halls. Five people were struck by gunfire, with victims ranging in age from 17 to 23.
One of the victims, a 20-year-old VSU student, was hospitalized but has since been released. Another victim remains in critical condition, according to authorities.
Harris is facing eight felony warrants, including four counts of malicious wounding and four counts involving the use of a firearm during the commission of a felony.
He is being held without bond at the Chesterfield County Jail.
