WARNER ROBINS, Ga. — A shooting at Warner Robins High School in Georgia sent shockwaves through the community Wednesday afternoon as law enforcement rushed to the campus following reports of gunfire.
According to the Houston County Sheriff’s Office, a suspect has been taken into custody and the school has been secured. Authorities initially reported limited information, but officials later confirmed that two students were injured and transported to a local hospital. Their injuries were described as non-life-threatening.
The high school was placed under a Code Red lockdown, with students and staff instructed to remain secured inside classrooms while a large law enforcement presence responded to the scene.
Officials urged the public to avoid the area around South Davis Drive as investigators worked to determine exactly what led to the shooting. Nearby roads were also temporarily closed.
Authorities have not yet released details about the suspect, the circumstances surrounding the shooting, or whether the suspect was a student.
The investigation remains ongoing, and additional information is expected as authorities continue gathering evidence and interviewing witnesses.
