At approximately 9:30 p.m., officers responded to an incident involving weapons in Spartanburg, South Carolina. Upon arrival, they made contact with the victim, who reported the incident had occurred earlier in the area of W.O. Ezell Boulevard.

According to investigators, the victim stated she and her boyfriend were at a Cookout on John B. White Sr. Boulevard when her ex-boyfriend arrived and saw them together.

The victim reported that she and her boyfriend left the location to avoid contact. However, the suspect allegedly followed them from the parking lot onto John B. White Sr. Boulevard and continued toward East Blackstock Road.

Investigators say the suspect, identified as Derrick Jarrod Peake Jr., pulled alongside the victim’s vehicle in a burgundy Dodge Charger and began yelling threats. He then allegedly fired approximately three rounds at the vehicle, striking it near the rear wheel.

Authorities say the suspect also intentionally struck the victim’s vehicle from behind as she continued driving toward the intersection of East Blackstock Road and W.O. Ezell Boulevard.

Warrants were obtained charging Peake with two counts of attempted murder, two counts of possession of a weapon during a violent crime, discharging a firearm into an occupied vehicle, and breach of peace, high and aggravated nature.

The investigation remains ongoing.
