One of the FBI’s 10 Most Wanted Fugitives was arrested after he allegedly stabbed his wife to death on the day after their wedding.

42-year-old Arnoldo Jimenez was placed on the FBI’s 10 Most Wanted Fugitives list in 2019 after he allegedly murdered his wife seven years prior.

According to the FBI, Jimenez stabbed his wife to death in his car, a 2006 Maserati, then dragged her body to the bathtub in her apartment on May 12, 2012, the day after the couple was married. According to CBS, she was still wearing the silver cocktail dress she wore during their wedding.

Police learned about the murder when Jimenez’s wife’s family asked them to do a welfare check on her since she did not pick up her children after the wedding. The family told The Associated Press that there had been violent incidents in Jimenez and his wife’s relationship. Jimenez also reportedly had a previous unrelated domestic violence charge.

According to outlet, Jimenez called his sister on the day of the murder and said that he left his wife bleeding after a “bad fight.” He reportedly did not explain further, hung up, and did not answer any other calls.

“Thursday marks an important milestone for [FBI Chicago] — our personnel have successfully brought back FBI Most Wanted fugitive Arnoldo Jimenez from Mexico,” the agency said in a statement.

“No matter how much time has passed or where a criminal may be in the world, the FBI will never stop in our pursuit of justice.”

It remains unclear why Jimenez allegedly killed his wife and when his first U.S. court appearance will be.
