Her Phone Lit Up With Another Man’s Name. Her Date Strangled Her Unconscious.
A woman was assaulted while sitting inside a vehicle in the parking lot of the Winton Woods Apartments on Winton Road in Cincinnati, Ohio.
According to court records, the woman was on a date with 29-year-old Troy Gover when her phone received a notification containing another man’s name.
Gover allegedly grabbed the phone, refused to return it and became angry about the message.
He then exited the vehicle, approached the woman as she sat in the driver’s seat and allegedly strangled her until she lost consciousness.
When the woman regained consciousness, Gover was allegedly punching her in the face repeatedly.
Gover eventually walked toward the rear of the vehicle, giving the woman an opportunity to escape.
He was arrested on July 18, 2026, and charged with aggravated robbery.
