A Grammy-nominated rapper who spent time in jail in Horry County in March was arrested again on Wednesday after allegedly chasing a female acquaintance with a hammer during a domestic-violence incident, according to an Horry County police report.
Sidney Royel Selby III, better known by his stage name Desiigner, was arrested by Horry County police on charges including second-degree domestic violence; two counts of malicious injury to animals, personal property, injury value more than $2,000 but less than $10,000; and one count of malicious injury to animals, personal property, injury value $2,000 or less.
During the argument, the report said she told officers that he grabbed her phones and smashed them with a hammer, prompting her to run outside while holding a child and yell for help. After going to the front yard of a neighbor’s home, the woman said Selby grabbed her and threw her to the ground before taking her handbag and throwing it over a fence.
The report said she was able to get up, still carrying the child, and run into the neighbor’s residence, where she locked herself in a bathroom. In the meantime, Selby allegedly used a hammer and screwdriver to damage the neighbor’s vehicles.
He was given a $1,500 bond on one of the malicious-injury charges, but no bond was set on the other charges.
