Christmas CRISIS: UK hit by wine, Xmas pud and toys shortage
UK supermarket shelves have been hit by massive shortages of the latest victims of the deepening supply chain crisis – Christmas foods, wine and kids’ toys.
An estimated 100k shortfall of HGV drivers has reportedly led the govt to consider turning again to army personnel to plug the widening gap between driver demand after they helped deliver fuel last week.
To top matters off, the Bank of England has also announced plans to raise the interest rate it had dropped in March to a historic low of 0.1%; city traders expect it to bump to 1%, the sharpest rise in 15 years.
