Chicago rapper Naseem “Poohman” Thomas was shot and killed on Friday evening
CPD says 2 shooters ambushed him at a Citgo, chased his Dodge Challenger, and shot him until he crashed.
He was reportedly returning from rapper Bloodhound Q50’s funeral.
The 26-year-old artist, heavily associated with the DrillCity and Bloodhound drill music collectives, was targeted just hours after attending the funeral of fellow rapper Bloodhound Q50, who was killed in a similar ambush earlier in September.
Thomas suffered gunshot wounds to his back and knee. In an attempt to escape, he fled in his black Dodge Challenger as the attackers pursued him, continuing to shoot.
The high-speed chase ended moments later when Thomas crashed into a utility pole near 74th Street and Cottage Grove Avenue. First responders rushed him to the University of Chicago Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.
Investigators noted that a parking sticker or permit from Bloodhound Q50’s funeral was still visible on Thomas’s windshield at the crash scene.
