The Boston Celtics have agreed to trade Jaylen Brown to the Philadelphia 76ers for Paul George, two first-round picks and two second-round picks, sources told ESPN’s Shams Charania on Wednesday.
The relationship between Brown and the Celtics became strained earlier in the offseason after Boston publicly dangled his name in an aggressive, failed pursuit of Giannis Antetokounmpo (who was ultimately traded from Milwaukee to the Miami Heat).
Despite coming off the absolute best statistical year of his career—averaging 28.7 points, 6.9 rebounds, and 5.1 assists while Jayson Tatum rehabbed an Achilles injury—Boston ultimately decided to break up its star duo.
The decision follows a disappointing 2026 postseason exit where the Celtics blew a 3-1 series lead and lost in the first round to none other than the 76ers.
