At least 4-5 people were shot after a gunman went on a shooting spree on highways in Kansas City, Missouri

According to Kansas City police, the shooting were reported Tuesday evening.

Police say between 6 p.m. and 6:30 p.m., officers were notified of four separate shooting victims at locations stretching across Kansas City, including near Interstate 670 and Wyoming Street, Interstate 70 and Paseo Boulevard, I-70 and Prospect Avenue, and Truman Road and Hardesty Avenue.

Investigators said all four victims reported they were traveling east when their cars came under gunfire.

Four people — three adults and one teenager — were taken to hospitals. The teen was listed in stable condition, two adults suffered non-life-threatening injuries and one adult sustained life-threatening injuries.

Detectives believe the shootings occurred in close proximity from west to east and are connected to the same person of interest.

Kansas City police say that the possible suspect was later found at a home in Independence, near U.S. 24 Highway and Brookside Avenue, where a standoff ensued.

The standoff has continued into the early-morning hours, and Independence police are working the scene. Blue Springs police are assisting.
