At least 2 police officers and a police K-9 were shot while responding to a shooting call in the Gumfork Place area of Chesterfield County, Virginia; suspect hospitalized, officials say.
A suspect is in custody after two officers and a police K-9 were injured responding to a call for a shooting in a Chesterfield neighborhood, officials with Chesterfield Police confirmed Sunday evening.
Chesterfield Police were called to the 12900 block of Gumfork Place for a report of a shooting at 4:30 p.m., according to the department’s online emergency communications logs. That address is along a cul-de-sac in the Clover Hill Farms neighborhood.
Officials said that the officers have been taken to area hospitals. There was no word on the severity of their injuries.
The suspect was also injured and taken to a hospital, according to officials with the department.
Officers were responding to a domestic situation, Crime Insider sources told Jon Burkett.
Authorities had urged people within a one-mile radius of the address to shelter in place, according to a 5:30 p.m. alert from the county’s emergency notifications system. That alert was lifted around 6:35 p.m.
“There is no ongoing threat to the community at this time,” police said.
