Caleb Rush is accused of being the man seen walking up behind the 13-year-old girl Monday and wrapping his arms around her, according to Fort Wayne Police Department Sgt. Jeremy Webb, a public information officer for the department.

The 19-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the attempted kidnapping of a 13-year-old girl at the Northcrest Shopping Center T.J. Maxx.

The girl screamed out and the suspect quickly fled the scene.

Rush is facing two felony preliminary charges, criminal confinement and battery to a minor.

“The FWPD would like to thank the media and the public for the outpouring of information that helped lead to the arrest,” detectives wrote in a press release about the man’s arrest.
