Alabama high school football coach charged with sending obscene photos to student resigns

Arab High School’s head football coach has been charged with sending obscene photos to a male student, according to the Arab Police Department.

Arab Police Spokesperson said Lee Ozmint was arrested on April 25 and charged with being a school employee and distributing or soliciting obscene material to or from a student under the age of 19. 

That charge is a Class-A misdemeanor in the state of Alabama.

APD said Ozmint is accused of sending and or soliciting obscene photographs to a current male student of the Arab High School.

Ozmint has been released on bond.

Arab City Schools’ Board of Education met Friday at 11 a.m. to accept Ozmint’s resignation, News 19’s Emily Moessner learned.

The school system released a statement on social media on Thursday night, saying it was made aware earlier this week of “unprofessional and inappropriate” communication between an Arab High School teacher and a student.

It added that it isn’t sharing the name of the teacher or student involved at this time.
