A mass shooting at the Virginia Beach oceanfront in Virginia

Deputy Chief William Zelms told reporters on the scene police are investigating a shooting with multiple victims. The call came in at 9:54 p.m. The scene stretched along the 1400 block of Atlantic Avenue as well as a handful of adjacent streets.
Zelms could not say how many victims were injured or how severe the injuries are. They also don’t know what kind of weapon was used or how many suspects are being sought.
He added police do not currently believe there is any threat to the community.
“We know that when an incident like this happens, it causes concern,” Zelms said. “That’s why we take these so seriously, and we will do everything we can to continue to ensure the public’s safety.”
