Winston-Salem police say parts of Highway 52 northbound and Interstate 40 westbound are closed in the area. Interstate 40 eastbound is open, but with a detour.
The North Carolina Department of Transportation says this may not clear until close to 10 a.m.
It happened on Highway 52 North, near Interstate 40, around 4:05 a.m.
Police say if residents see cattle roaming, please call the non-emergency hotline at 336-773-7700.
It is unknown what caused the tractor-trailer to overturn.
