A Will C. Wood High School student was waiting to be picked up around 12:55 p.m. when four people in ski masks attacked the student and stole his cellphone, the school district said. Those assailants then took off in a vehicle.

After the attack, school resource officers and school administrators were alerted, Vacaville Unified said. The resource officers checked surveillance footage of the attack, identified the license plate of that getaway vehicle and learned the group was going westbound on Interstate 80.

The school district said with the help of the Vallejo Police Department and California Highway Patrol officers, the vehicle was stopped in Vallejo, and all four people were arrested.

While the people arrested have not yet been identified, the school district said none of them were students with any Vacaville Unified School District.

The school district said the student who was attacked was given first aid and is expected to recover.
