A package packed with nearly $17,400 in gold and silver coins allegedly vanished before it ever reached its intended recipient and now, a suspect is behind bars.

28-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the alleged theft of about $17,400 worth of gold and silver coins from a FedEx package headed to a Fort Bend County resident.

The Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office identified the suspect as Artur Kryvytskyi. Investigators say he allegedly used fictitious identification to obtain the package and may be connected to similar theft investigations in Fort Bend, Montgomery and Harris counties, as well as Houston and Sugar Land.

Detectives arrested Kryvytskyi Sept. 2 after executing a search warrant at his home in The Woodlands, where authorities say additional stolen property was recovered.

Investigators believe there may be more victims as the case expands to other jurisdictions across the U.S.
