1.5 million pounds of ready-to-eat frankfurters are being recalled by a Massachusetts company temperature abuse.
About 1.5 million pounds of ready-to-eat frankfurters are being recalled by a Massachusetts company for potential “temperature abuse,” the USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service announced Saturday.
Chelsea-based Kayem Foods Inc. said a retail customer on Oct. 1 reported that product was found to be warm after being delivered. An investigation determined various meat and poultry products had been stored in a warehouse cooler “that experienced temperature deviations,” federal officials said.
“There have been no confirmed reports of illness due to consumption of these products. Anyone concerned about an illness should contact a healthcare provider,” the FSIS said in its alert.
The items were prepared between March and October and distributed to retail and foodservice locations across the U.S. and Hong Kong, officials said. The products are marked “EST. M/P 7839,” “EST. P 20935A” and “EST. M 9520.”
Any products under the recall should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase.
