A video making the rounds across social media has sparked major reactions after viewers were led to believe it showed popular streamer Kai Cenat being arrested and assaulted by police.

But there’s one major problem: it wasn’t Kai Cenat.

The footage is reportedly from an August 19 traffic stop in Blytheville, Arkansas, involving a passenger identified as 23-year-old Tedrick Washington. According to reports, Arkansas State Police stopped a vehicle following a high-speed incident, and the situation escalated when officers attempted to remove Washington from the SUV.

Video footage shows an officer breaking a rear window and pulling Washington from the vehicle before striking him during the arrest. Washington was later charged with obstruction of governmental operations and resisting arrest.

As the footage spread online, however, social media users began incorrectly identifying the man as Kai Cenat. The resemblance apparently helped fuel the confusion, with posts claiming the streamer had been confronted and assaulted by police.

Those claims are false.

Reports confirm that Cenat was not involved in the Arkansas incident, was not arrested and was not the person shown in the viral footage.

The situation is another example of how quickly misinformation can spread when a shocking video is paired with a recognizable celebrity’s name.

For now, the viral footage continues generating conversation online—but viewers should be careful before sharing claims that haven’t been verified.
