Users keep finding new issues, and after the random disconnects and connection problems that are hitting more people, here’s a glitch that might be happening only on a limited number of devices.
Users turned to Google’s forums to report that Android Auto 17.2 causes random audio stutters and media playback skipping. Listening to music has become impossible in these cars, users explain, despite all the workarounds that these users turned to.
Android Auto 17.2 is often the culprit, and the glitch appeared after the update to this version.
“I have already set the app battery optimization to Unrestricted, cleared the application cache, and toggled Bluetooth on/off, but the micro-stutters persist,” someone explains on Google’s forums.
Someone else confirms the same issue in their car, explaining that many other people are affected.
However, it’s important to know that not all users are hitting these problems, and Android Auto 17.2 isn’t always the horrendous update that users should avoid by all means.
I installed the update immediately after it started rolling out on my Google Pixel 10 Pro XL, and in my case, the experience appears to be flawless. I use it with factory-installed Android Auto wireless, and I’m not seeing any of the widely reported glitches. The connection also appears to be very stable, with no random disconnects whatsoever.
