The Taliban’s new foreign minister Amir Khan Muttaqi has asked to speak to world leaders at this week’s UN General Assembly meeting in New York City, a UN spokesman said Tuesday.
The ambassador of the Afghan government ousted last month by the Taliban, Ghulam Isaczai has also requested to speak at the event, with the UN yet to decide who will properly represent the country at the organization.
