Lyft and Uber to pay legal fees for drivers sued under Texas abortion ban
The ban that came into force Wednesday, allows citizens to sue anyone who provides or “aids or abets” an abortion after six weeks.
This potentially includes drivers who unknowingly take women to clinics for abortion procedures.
Lyft and Uber have said they will cover all legal fees for drivers sued under the new law.
Abortion providers like Planned Parenthood say the law could lead to hundreds of costly lawsuits that would be difficult for pro-choice groups to defend.
