He Thought Someone Stole His Money At A Friendsgiving Party. One Man Ended Up Dead.

Milwaukee police officers responded to a residence near Houston and Congress regarding a shooting at a Friendsgiving gathering. Upon arrival, officers found two men suffering from gunshot wounds lying on the living room floor.

One of the victims died at the scene. The second victim survived and was transported to a hospital for treatment.

The victim was identified as 25-year-old Nasif Bowie.

According to investigators, detectives recovered nine fired 9mm cartridge casings from inside the residence. Authorities also discovered Kwon Burdine’s Wisconsin driver’s license inside the bathroom and located his fingerprints on a tequila bottle inside the home.

Court documents stated organizers of the Friendsgiving gathering allegedly told attendees they did not want men at the party in an effort to avoid violence, though Bowie was allowed to attend.

Investigators said Burdine later admitted he brought a firearm to the party because he had recently won $10,000 and believed he needed protection because “this was Milwaukee.”

Burdine told investigators he had been drinking at the gathering when he realized his money was missing. Authorities said Burdine claimed he either lost the money or believed someone at the party had stolen it.

Burdine shut the door and told everyone nobody was leaving until he got his money back.

Investigators said Burdine later claimed the situation escalated when people at the party began hitting him and the firearm fell from his pocket. He told investigators he struggled with Bowie over the gun before firing multiple shots, striking both victims.

On November 26, 2024, members of the Milwaukee Police Department Fugitive Apprehension Unit arrested Burdine at a residence in Green Bay. Authorities also recovered a Glock 9mm handgun from the home.

In February 2026, a jury found Burdine guilty of first-degree intentional homicide, attempted first-degree intentional homicide, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

On May 15, 2026, a Milwaukee County judge sentenced Burdine to life in prison. He will be eligible for extended supervision after serving 50 years.
