Jamilla Shanae Smith’s family is offering a $5,000 reward for information on the 30-year-old woman’s whereabouts.
The family last saw Smith on Dec. 2.
The Aiken County Sheriff’s Office has charged 34-year-old Daniel Harmon with kidnapping in Smith’s disappearance. Deputies also charged Harmon with second-degree domestic violence. A warrant alleges that he choked Smith in front of a child on Nov. 10.
An Aiken County Sheriff’s Office incident report said a female 911 caller told a dispatcher on Dec. 2 that she was trying to get away from her ex-boyfriend.
The caller then began to scream before the phone went silent. Deputies went to Smith’s residence and couldn’t find her or Harmon.
Initially listed as missing with Smith, Harmon was taken into custody after a two-hour standoff with police on Dec. 5 at a Carpentersville Road residence.
Harmon is listed as an inmate at the Aiken County detention center. He has no bond.
“The family is devastated,” said private investigator Chandra Cleveland, who was hired by the family and spoke on their behalf.
