A Russian-born woman has been sentenced to 21 years in a US prison after she tried to kill her American lookalike with poisoned cheesecake and attempted to steal the latter’s identity.
Viktoria Nasyrova, 47, was found guilty of attempted murder by a New York jury in February, reported The Guardian.
Viktoria Nasyrova gave her beautician, Olga Tsvyk (35), a slice of poisoned cheesecake on 28 August 2016 before stealing her passport and work permit. Both women spoke Russian, had dark hair, the same skin complexion and shared other physical traits, according to the court trial.
Olga Tsvyk ate the poisoned cheesecake and felt sick before passing out.
A friend found her in an unconscious state the next day, with pills scattered around her to make it look like she had tried to kill herself, prosecutors said in court.
When Tsvyk returned home after treatment in hospital, she discovered her passport and employment authorization card were missing, along with jewelry and other valuables.
