Woman found stabbed by unknown attackers
SUMTER, SC – Officers are working to identify three people who may have knowledge about or could be involved in a stabbing late Tuesday night/early Wednesday morning.
Officers were called before 12:45 a.m. Wednesday to a McCray’s Mill Road residence, between Pinewood and Stadium roads, where stabbing victim, Catherine Pack, 33, of Wedgefield, was found outside. Pack was flown to a Columbia hospital where she remains in critical condition.
Initial reports indicate Pack, who was traveling by bicycle earlier that night, was given a ride from the Circle K on Pinewood Road before she was stabbed and forced out of the vehicle.
Video surveillance shows Pack putting her bicycle into a van before getting in.
A driver (a man) and at least two other passengers (a man and woman) were inside the van when it pulled off and later turned onto McCray’s Mill Road.
The van, described as a tan-colored, older-model Honda Odyssey, has not been found.
If you can help identify the individuals in the van or may have seen something unusual in the McCray’s Mill/Pinewood roads area between 11:15 p.m.
Tuesday and 12:45 a.m. Wednesday, contact the Sumter Police Department at 803-436-2700.
