Henri Jennings was shot three times by a Lincoln Heights homeowner before he died on the front porch, but just before that he was stabbed in the neck.
Ebony Stenson, 39, of Millvale is accused of stabbing Jennings, 48, with a box cutter which caused him to flee from her. Investigators said he ran up to the house on Chamberlain Avenue and tried to get inside.
The homeowner feared for his life and fired, according to the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office.
The agency said the homeowner, whose name has not been released, will face no charges. Instead, Stenson has been charged with murder.
Under Ohio law, if a person dies as a result of a felony, anyone involved in committing that felony can be charged with murder. Court documents state Stenson committed felonious assault when she stabbed Jennings, and that his death was a “proximate result” of that assault.
Stenson was arrested Tuesday. She is scheduled to appear in court Wednesday morning.
A news release from the sheriff’s office about the Sept. 19 incident said Stenson and Jennings were having a domestic dispute in their car at the time of the stabbing.
