A woman has been charged with 2 counts of child neglect, after police say her 2 year old ingested Fentanyl and nearly died.
The affidavit for Shayla Roach says on July 6th, 2022, she woke up at 10:30 PM and found the baby girl blue and not breathing and called 911.
-It says the hospital used Narcan to bring the baby back from the brink of death.
It says the baby was already on an “out of home safety plan” through DHS because in February, 2022, Roach had shown up at the hospital for a Fentanyl overdose of her own.
It says at that time, her 11 year old told doctors she saw Roach crush up some blue pills and smoke them and every time she did that, Roach became sleepy, wobbled around and talked to herself.
It says Roach told police she had taken Xanax and didn’t realize it was laced with Fentanyl.
It says after that incident, the 11 year old was placed with her father and the 2 year old was placed with Roach’s ex-girlfriend and Roach was supposed to have supervised visits.
It says on July 6th, the ex-girlfriend had brought the baby over to see Roach, then left to run some errands for about 30 minutes and received a call from Roach about the baby not breathing.
It says Roach was supposed to be taking drug tests through DHS since April of 2022.
It says she had numerous no shows.
May 23 and May 28, it says she tested positive for Benzodiazepines.
June 28 and July 5th, it says she tested positive for meth and amphetamines.
