Detectives, along with the Summit County Medical Examiner’s Office, later determined the woman died as a result of a physical assault.
The victim was identified as 24-year-old Shawnna Elizabeth Pasquale.
Authorities said Pasquale had been beaten to death.
Days later, a family in Akron reported another 24-year-old woman missing. Investigators determined the woman was being held against her will and was in danger.
On January 9, 2026, officers located the missing woman with 29-year-old Marcus Dangelo Price in Akron. Members of the U.S. Marshals’ Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force and Akron Police arrested Price on outstanding warrants. The woman was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
Police said Price brutally beat and sexually assaulted the woman for at least 10 days. Medical staff reported multiple broken bones, internal injuries, and extensive cuts and bruises.
Price has since been charged with murder in Pasquale’s death, along with felonious assault, rape, and kidnapping.
On February 20, 2026, he pleaded not guilty during his arraignment in Barberton Municipal Court. He is currently being held on a $2 million bond at the Summit County Jail.
