Antwone Chisholm, 34, has been identified as the man shot and killed around 2 p.m. Monday in a residential area on Kentucky Drive just off Benson Road.
Garner Police Department arrested and charged Patee Lachelle Bell, 27, and Howard Lee Covington Jr., 30, in connection to the murder.
According to family members, Bell and Chisholm got engaged this past weekend on a vacation in Puerto Rico. Chisholm’s family tells ABC11 he was a kind, generous family man.
“He was just an overall kind-hearted guy, loved his family, very dedicated to his family,” said Quincy Chisholm, Antwone’s first cousin.
Quincy said Antwone had six children and a grandchild and was caring for Bell’s children as well.
“Everything he did was in an attempt to give his family more. He was never worried about himself,” Chisholm said.
In a social media post she shared with ABC11, Chisholm’s mother, Novella, memorialized her son, saying in part, “My heart is completely broken. I will never be the same again. The pain is indescribable. I love you, son.”
During Bell’s first court appearance on Wednesday, she was a assigned a capital defender, and told she was being held without bond. Covington’s first court appearance will be Thursday at 2 p.m.
