An Eden woman was arrested Friday and is facing felony charges related to her child’s death.
According to Lt. Anthony Lovings who heads up the Eden Police Department’s investigations division, on Friday, May 20th, officers responded to 208 Dameron Street because a child, 16-month-old Cam’den Lamar Hairston, was suffering from a cardiac arrest.
Cam’den Hairston was transported to a local medical facility where he was later pronounced deceased.
According to Lt. Lovings, as a result of their investigation, the child’s mother, 22-year-old Courtney Danielle Hairston of Eden, was arrested. Courtney Hairston was charged with Intentional Felony Child Abuse and Involuntary Manslaughter.
Hairston was issued a $250,000 secured bond and is scheduled to appear in Rockingham County District Court on June 7th.
No further details of what led up to Hairston’s arrest were released by the police department.
