A protest turned violent in downtown Atlanta on Saturday night in the wake of the death of an environmental activist who was killed by authorities this week after officials said the 26-year-old shot a state trooper, according to the Associated Press.
Nadja Geier, 24, of Nashville, is among the six arrested in the incident, according to Atlanta police. She faces eight charges including domestic terrorism, interference with government property, first degree arson, criminal damage, riot, unlawful assembly, willful obstruction of a law enforcement officer, and pedestrian in a roadway.
Mayor Dickens continued, “And some of them were found with explosives on them…Make no mistake, these individuals meant harm to people and to property.”
The others arrested are: Madeleine Feola, 22, from Spokane, Washington; Ivan Ferguson, 23, from Nevada; Graham Evatt, 20, from Decatur, GA.; Francis Carrol, 22, of Kennebunkport, Maine; and Emily Murphy, 37, from Grosse Isle, Michigan.
